B'div Rifle Gals
Tuesday, February 19, 2008
The fight for B'div rifle gals is NOW wide open, lets take a look at those school fighting it out for the top spot. Not in any order, since all of them stand quite an equal chance of getting first.
Firstly the school with all 3 member in NYT is YuHua sec. Although only getting a miserable 9th last yr, one must not neglect the team lead by Jasmine Loh who has the ability to shoot 390 during international competition. With her supporting case of Chan LiHui and Lam Shin Yi who are able to hit above 380 now, they might just nick it.
Next, with 2 of their last year C'div third and 2 of their B'div shooters, is XinMin sec. Ever since their establishment they have already produced 2 C'div champion in that short time and last year c'div champ Ow LiYa cannot be under estimated. Not only will she has to better her last year standard of 386 but her BOTH her 2 other teammates must also hit decent 380 for a real chance of getting the crown.
3rd on the line will be once gaint of shooting AISS. With full cast of last year C'div runners up, which 2 of them are selected for NYT, their main concern will be their third shooter. If Soh LiXin and Hazel Low can hit their personal best or close on that day, their third shooter might just need to hit close to 380 for them to win the gold comfortably. And it shouldn't be too difficult for their third shooter to hit 380, so alot lies on LiXin and Hazel to perform. Even with that said, their third shoooter might suprise us by shooting better than either or both of them.
With the cast of last year C'div champion and Wu JiaXin from sec4 who hit 386 last yr, Fuhua team looks solid all round and will be difficult even for them to select their first 3 shooters. To top it up Ong Li Yan is also last year national 2nd, narrowly losing by 1. Their competition performance was very impressive last year and it will be diffiult for other school to match if their training level are stepped up and they map it on national itself.
There will also be some black horse which include Temasake and RGS. In Temasake their is Shazunah who is capable of hitting over 390 easily. Problem is she doesn't train much. And their average might just be a step behind other sch. The problem with RGS is probably they cry too much, they have changed and coach and we will have to see if their new coach can save the once great school from their mediocre slump. KCP gets a noticable mention but Jodie has transfer and will be tough for AiTing to carry the team. Almost for got here is Yishun Town, but problem here is I have no idea who are sec4 n 5 so yap no comment on them.
Last but not least last yr B'div champion NYGH with 2 of their last year winning team Shiing and Zijin, backed up by last year national C'div third, Eunice Tan they still have a good chance of winning. With their new coach hell like training, their average score might just match up with Fuhua or even get the better of them.
Like I said it is wide open, will go down to who can perform on that day. Maybe we could get our best friend Jun to give some odds for national when July draw closer. Just last note from HCI college side captain, "if HCI don't will B'div they can go and die, cause they train so much." So we wouldn't be getting odds for B'div boys though it is 1-1 for HCI odds.
